By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
What This Platform Is (and Is Not)
Platform role
This platform is a coordination tool that helps users discover, post, and manage shared rides.
- We do not provide transportation services.
- We do not employ drivers.
- We do not act as an agent, broker, or guarantor for any ride.
All trips are arranged directly between users.
No transportation guarantee
We do not guarantee that:
- a trip will occur
- a driver will arrive on time
- a rider will be picked up
- a trip will be completed
Use of the platform is at your own discretion and risk.
Eligibility and Accounts
Account requirements
To use the platform, you must:
- Sign in using an approved university Microsoft account (e.g., UIUC)
- Provide accurate and truthful information
- Maintain only one account
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these requirements.
Account responsibility
You are responsible for:
- All activity under your account
- Keeping your account secure
- Logging out on shared or public devices
User Roles and Responsibilities
Drivers
If you post trips as a driver, you are responsible for:
- Holding a valid driver’s license
- Having legally required insurance
- Ensuring your vehicle is safe and roadworthy
- Complying with all applicable laws
You are solely responsible for driving behavior and safety.
Riders
If you join trips as a rider, you are responsible for:
- Showing up on time
- Communicating clearly
- Respectful behavior
- Following applicable laws
Vehicles and Car Information
Vehicle requirements
Drivers must only post trips using vehicles they are authorized to operate.
Vehicle information may be required to:
- Display seating capacity
- Enforce luggage limits
- Support safety and coordination
Vehicle snapshots
Once a trip begins, vehicle information may be snapshotted and frozen for record-keeping and safety purposes.
Trip Creation and Rules
Trip details
When creating a trip, drivers define:
- Route and timing
- Seat and luggage limits
- Pickup and drop-off flexibility
- Payment methods
- Booking rules
Drivers are responsible for ensuring trip details are accurate.
Location privacy
Exact addresses may be processed into public-safe location labels (e.g., neighborhood or landmark) to protect privacy.
Precise location details may only be shared with relevant users during active coordination windows.
Booking and Payments
Booking process
Riders may request or join trips depending on driver settings.
Bookings may:
- Require approval
- Be automatically accepted
- Be subject to payment windows
Payments
The platform does not process payments unless explicitly stated otherwise.
All payment arrangements are made directly between users.
We do not:
- Hold funds
- Guarantee payments
- Resolve payment disputes
Automation and System Behavior
Automated actions
The platform includes automated systems that may:
- Expire unpaid bookings
- Lock trips at cutoff times
- Start check-in windows
- Auto-start trips if drivers are late
- Auto-complete trips after extended inactivity
These actions are best-effort safeguards, not guarantees.
Notifications
Notifications are provided for convenience.
We do not guarantee:
- delivery
- timing
- accuracy in all cases
Users are responsible for checking trip status within the platform.
Privacy and Data Visibility
Context-based visibility
Personal information (such as names, phone numbers, pickup notes) is shown only when relevant to an active or recent trip.
Access may change automatically based on:
- trip status
- booking status
- time since trip completion
Historical records
The platform may retain limited historical records (e.g., completed trips, bookings, ratings) for safety, accountability, and system integrity.
Safety and Conduct
Expected behavior
Users must:
- Treat others respectfully
- Avoid harassment, discrimination, or abuse
- Avoid illegal activity
Reporting and enforcement
We may investigate reports of misuse and take action including:
- warnings
- suspensions
- permanent bans
We are not obligated to mediate disputes.
Account Suspension and Termination
Our rights
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts at any time for:
- policy violations
- safety concerns
- abuse or misuse
- system integrity reasons
We are not required to provide continued access.
Limitation of Liability
Use at your own risk
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for accidents, injuries, losses, or damages
- We are not responsible for user behavior
- We are not responsible for missed rides or failed coordination
No warranties
The platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind.
Changes to These Terms
Updates
We may update these Terms from time to time.
If changes are significant, we may notify users.
Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
